Lemon Poppy On The Road in Music City

by Maggie Kelleher

Today I am writing from Nashville!

For Spring Break this year some friends and I decided to take the few days we had off from school and work to drive a few hours down to Nashville and spend a few days in Music City! We have spent our first few days at the Opry, shopping, and at the Country Music Hall of Fame. And now that we've got the country music history out of the way, we are on to explore the sites and play some charades!

Why am I telling you this? Because we brought along some cake, of course! Lemon Poppy Coffee Cake! And we spent some time enjoying it along with some spring raspberries and quirky Nashville-esque decor and souvenirs.

Delicious Delectables- Orange Salted Caramel- AND A GIVEAWAY!

by Maggie Kelleher

Do you ever feel like some projects are just too advanced for you? I always thought that with caramel. Whenever I look up recipes for making candy they just seem so detailed and complicated that only an expert can do them. Well I have been proven wrong. You may have seen our Valentine's Day Choco-love post, and if you did, then you would know that I made caramel last weekend, and it was so much easier than I ever imagined!

This recipe took me less than an hour, is adorable and delicious, and it goes so well with coffee cake!

I found it over here on Joy the Baker, and I just can't get over how easy and delicious it was!

Snow Day Procrasti-baking

by Maggie Kelleher

So you might have heard that we're expecting a blizzard and My Grandma's offices are going to be closed this Tuesday (January 27th)! We apologize in advance on behalf of the snow for any late cake deliveries this week. We promise we're trying our best to make sure that doesn't happen!

Well in case you're in the Boston area, we wanted to commiserate (or celebrate, depending on your view of snow-days) and share some ideas on what to do with your possible day off instead of your backlogged work.

A Tasteful Thanksgiving- Decor for the Time-Pressed

by Maggie Kelleher

Who's ready for Thanksgiving? I am! The Winter Holidays and their gorgeously decorated family parties are my absolute favorite! Just looking at this table setting is making me excited!

But as much as I love the look of the holidays and creating table settings, like this one, that make guests say "WOW!" I don't have the time to spend hours on the non-food aspects of holiday parties. Who does, with turkeys to roast/fry/or otherwise cook to your heart's desire?

http://www.thesweetestoccasion.com/2013/11/celebrating-friendsgiving/

In addition to making your life easier with My Grandma's (cakes that will *WOW* without the work) we have pulled together some of our favorite quick and easy Thanksgiving decoration ideas for all time-constraints and budgets!

Delicious Delectables- Lemon Curd Coffee Cake

by Maggie Kelleher

I discovered a new dessert topping! I don't know if you are aware of the power of lemon curd, but I was blissfully naive about this delicious topping until very recently.

Last week I found myself sitting around trying to decide what I should blog about next when I thought it might be fun to get some new opinions in the conversation, and boy was that a good idea! Quite a few ideas were raised (that you will be seeing soon on this blog), but one idea made my friend Sankalp SO excited that I had no choice but to help him make it come to life. What was this idea?

Lemon curd and coffee cake!

"Lemon curd" you say? "That won't go well with coffee cake!" Well when I started this I have to say that I had my doubts, too. But I trusted in Sankalp's judgement, and boy did it pay off!

Students Tell All- Care Package Confidential

by Maggie Kelleher

We know no week is complete without some words from My Grandma's, so we are here to feed your coffee cake needs. (But seriously! We are giving away a free cake that can actually feed you!)

Today we wanted to talk about care packages again, but in a bit of a different way. As Autumn has slipped upon us schools have been reopening all over the world. You might even say that this year's college freshmen are starting to get the hang of college!

As they do, they are realizing the differences between college and home and starting to crave a few things. Care packages are often the best way to fill those cravings, and so instead of just telling you what I think your students might want, I am going to let them tell you themselves!

I asked a few of my (and My Grandma's) freshmen friends to tell you what they would want to find in their ideal care package while eating My Grandma's New England Blueberry Coffee Cake. Enjoy!

My Grandma's Has Joined Instagram and We Are #GrandmaFabulous!

by Maggie Kelleher

My Grandma's of New England loves to share. We love to share coffee cake, gluten-free dessertsDIYs, and refrigerator-decorating moments! And lately we have started taking pictures of us indulging in our products with My Grandma's friends and family, and we want to share what Grandma means to us!

What does "Grandma" mean to you? Is it a grandmother who loves to cook? Your favorite funny older family member? The woman who hosts every one of your family get-togethers? Or your favorite coffee cake company?

by Maggie Kelleher

Have you heard of The Magical Moon Foundation?

The Magical Moon Foundation is a fantastic organization that works to help nurture and empower children with cancer. Their mission statement affirms that The Magical Moon Foundation:
"focuses on empowering children to use their inner strengths to manifest miracles in their lives. The magic behind the Magical Moon begins by encouraging children to find the warrior within. Rather than kids fighting cancer, they become brave young Knights turning their struggles into motivation."

Gluten-Free Gourmet- Feeding Your Sweet-tooth No Matter Your Diet

by Maggie Kelleher

Did you know that My Grandma's offers gluten-free dessert options? They may not be coffee cakes, but why should our gluten-free friends suffer watching us so enjoy our coffee cakes when they can't eat any? We believe in sharing the love and smiles that we are known for, and so why not include our gluten-free friends in on the fun?

Coffee Cake Balls- Making Coffee Cake A Finger Food

by Maggie Kelleher

Ever wanted to try a few different sauces with your cake? How about fulfilling the kids' sugar cravings in a (relatively) mess-free way? Or are you just looking for a way to eat cake as a mini snack? Try this idea on for size!

What do you know about cake balls? We don't know much. We are in the coffee cake business, after all, and coffee cake balls are not a widespread concept... yet! But despite our lack of knowledge I decided to give it a try, and enlisted my ten year old cousin Conna to help. Say "Hi" to Conna!
