Delightful Delectables- Colorful Cream Cheese Icing

by Maggie Kelleher

It's dark and rainy outside today. I suppose I should expect it -- it is April -- but I miss the sunshine and could really use some color in my day. So I decided to add some of my own color to the day, with some bright and colorful cream cheese icing.

Charming Crafts- Cake Stand Antiquing DIY

by Maggie Kelleher

I spent last week in Nashville, and what is there to do in a brand new city? Shop for things you can't find anywhere else. And in Nashville that means antiquing! At least that's what we decided, as everywhere we turned we found a new antique shop. I decided to turn our antiquing trip into an opportunity to do a craft I have always wanted to, and so today I am going to show you how to make a cake stand out of some old dishes.

Don't you just love those little daisies?

Lemon Poppy On The Road in Music City

by Maggie Kelleher

Today I am writing from Nashville!

For Spring Break this year some friends and I decided to take the few days we had off from school and work to drive a few hours down to Nashville and spend a few days in Music City! We have spent our first few days at the Opry, shopping, and at the Country Music Hall of Fame. And now that we've got the country music history out of the way, we are on to explore the sites and play some charades!

Why am I telling you this? Because we brought along some cake, of course! Lemon Poppy Coffee Cake! And we spent some time enjoying it along with some spring raspberries and quirky Nashville-esque decor and souvenirs.

Pineapple Coconut Creamy Goodness

by Maggie Kelleher

My Grandma's is introducing a new flavor to our online customers, and we should all be excited. I know I am! I have tried My Grandma's pineapple coconut coffee cake and it is incredible! And you will love it too!

This pineapple coconut coffee cake is so moist that the entire cake has the consistency of the very center of the softest banana bread you have ever eaten. Yes, it's that good. And yes, it's fully baked. My Grandma's cakes are so moist and delicious that our customers sometimes claim the cake as their own recipe to their guests. It's such high praise, and we are so proud to be of service.

Delicious Delectables- Orange Salted Caramel- AND A GIVEAWAY!

by Maggie Kelleher

Do you ever feel like some projects are just too advanced for you? I always thought that with caramel. Whenever I look up recipes for making candy they just seem so detailed and complicated that only an expert can do them. Well I have been proven wrong. You may have seen our Valentine's Day Choco-love post, and if you did, then you would know that I made caramel last weekend, and it was so much easier than I ever imagined!

This recipe took me less than an hour, is adorable and delicious, and it goes so well with coffee cake!

I found it over here on Joy the Baker, and I just can't get over how easy and delicious it was!

Charming Crafts- Thanksgiving Turkey Cake

by Maggie Kelleher

It's been a crazy few weeks, but I promise that I didn't forget about you, wonderful readers, and I wanted to share with you my fun Thanksgiving cake-ventures and a chance to win a cake of your own for Christmas 2014 or your late December celebration of your choosing. Scroll to the bottom of this post to enter to win!

Thanksgiving isn't easy, especially when you're hosting. Not only can family make even little things stressful sometimes (I love them to death, but sometimes...) but with all the food you have to make, sometimes dessert doesn't even register on the to-do list.

Delicious Delectables- Airy Cinnamon Pumpkin Butter

by Maggie Kelleher

Lately, chocolate has been on my mind. I've been wearing lots of Fall colors and wool layers and thinking about sitting in front of the fireplace back home with a cup of hot cocoa. Now since cocoa tastes nowhere near as good when not paired with a roaring fire, I've been thinking of ways to get my Fall chocolate fix elsewhere. And have I found it!

Delicious Delectables- Lemon Curd Coffee Cake

by Maggie Kelleher

I discovered a new dessert topping! I don't know if you are aware of the power of lemon curd, but I was blissfully naive about this delicious topping until very recently.

Last week I found myself sitting around trying to decide what I should blog about next when I thought it might be fun to get some new opinions in the conversation, and boy was that a good idea! Quite a few ideas were raised (that you will be seeing soon on this blog), but one idea made my friend Sankalp SO excited that I had no choice but to help him make it come to life. What was this idea?

Lemon curd and coffee cake!

"Lemon curd" you say? "That won't go well with coffee cake!" Well when I started this I have to say that I had my doubts, too. But I trusted in Sankalp's judgement, and boy did it pay off!

Coffee Cake Balls- Making Coffee Cake A Finger Food

by Maggie Kelleher

Ever wanted to try a few different sauces with your cake? How about fulfilling the kids' sugar cravings in a (relatively) mess-free way? Or are you just looking for a way to eat cake as a mini snack? Try this idea on for size!

What do you know about cake balls? We don't know much. We are in the coffee cake business, after all, and coffee cake balls are not a widespread concept... yet! But despite our lack of knowledge I decided to give it a try, and enlisted my ten year old cousin Conna to help. Say "Hi" to Conna!
