Coffee Cake Balls- A Fancy Party Treat

Well Conna and I are back to tell you how to make our dipping sauces (as mentioned yesterday) and how to dress up those cake balls to make this fun and kid-friendly treat prom-ready. Okay, it doesn't have to be prom, but I thought the homage might be cute.

Aaaanyways, we are going to show you how to do this:

What is that, you ask? It is strawberry lemon sauce, lemon glaze, and coconut flakes, along with heavenly little balls of the moistest coffee cake around!

Excited yet? You should be! Because here's how to make it yourself! 

First, we experimented with toppings. Since we were working with a Lemon Coconut Coffee Cake (available at QVC) we decided on coconut flakes and a lemon glaze. 

We squeezed and we mixed and tasted until we had just the right combination: 

6 tbsp powdered sugar 

2 tsp lemon juice

2 tsp water

mix with a smile in an adorable little bowl

(feel free to experiment yourself to find your perfect combination!)

We wanted add some color, so we dug around in a fridge filled with red, white, and blue food (it was Fourth of July weekend) and found some extra strawberries.

We mushed them. 

And squished them.

Squeezed some lemon juice.

Look at that torque!

Added a little bit of powdered sugar. 

Just use a cookie cutter to get the shape! 

Filled the third bowl with some coconut flakes we found in the pantry. 

Balled up our cake with a melon baller, and we were set! 

Tiny salt bowls made everything cute and delectable.

And they were ready to eat or serve at a fancy dinner or to be devoured on site by this monster.

Ready to make your own! Go out and eat cake!
