I had a bit of an adventure this weekend. My little sister's friends came over for a coffee cake tea party, and knowing that I run this blog, they decided to make it a formal affair. No one can deny that high school seniors know how to create dramatic effect and take the time to enjoy their summer!
So bring on the prom dresses, because these girls dressed up in high-style for My Grandma's of New England.
And what goes perfectly with such a momentous occasion? Chocolate cake and berry sauce, of course! The winners of the food world's "most likely to stain" award. But in keeping with true prom mentality, these girls kept their dresses clean, because who wants to miss even a single crumb of My Grandma's coffee cake?
Did you know that there is such a thing as a chocolate coffee cake?
These girls sure didn't before last weekend, but that did not stop them from digging right in. If you asked them today they would definitely tell you that the best chocolate cake they have ever had was My Grandma's Ted Williams Chocolate coffee cake. They told me so!
In addition to the stain-worthy berry sauce mentioned above, the girls also got to taste my peanut butter sauce recipe, ideal for anyone who loves the heavenly pairing of chocolate and peanut butter. And did they pick sides between the fruit and peanut butter? You bet they did!
Milk-mustaches abounded, because nothing says "serious formal event" better than food on your face!
These girls can now attest to the fact that My Grandma's coffee cakes are perfect for pretty much every occasion, from prom to an impromptu tea party!
The recipes for our "Easy-Does-It Berry Sauce" and "Smooth-Sailing Peanut Butter Sauce" will soon be published in a future post, along with simple instructions and our favorite serving suggestions. We have a lot planned for the summer on the My Grandma's Blog!
